Pragmatics Based Textbooks: Do They Fulfil the Needs of Teachers and Students?

Secondary students must master not only grammar and text organization, but also pragmatic competence in the target language order to achieve communication competence. It was a mixed-methods with sample 41 from Semarang secondary schools. data were gathered using Google Form analyzed quantitatively qualitatively. discovered 56.1% disagreed they used contained situational context communicative everyday use. 61% strongly agreed be effective use situations introduce various expressions based on context. There significant gap between required at time. majority respondents believed or pragmatics-based include information importance pragmatics. These have been met by existing textbooks.
